“The draft bill is not acceptable in its current form” – Prof. Kodandram

“The draft bill is not acceptable in its current form. The steering committee will decide on the course of action that may include launching a massive agitation to demand complete statehood for Telangana without any restrictions,” TJAC chairman M Kodandaram said. The TJAC is planning to convene its steering committee meeting on Wednesday to discuss their plan of action.

TRS has earlier said the same with regard to the ‘special status’ given to Hyderabad in the draft bill. While the restrictions imposed on the status of Hyderabad is the bone of contention, KCR in the letter would also demand the area of common capital for five years to be restricted to the revenue area of Hyderabad instead of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits for 10 years as mentioned in the draft bill.

“TRS is demanding complete statehood for Telangana. The letter will demand that the new state must be on par with any other state in the country. Bestowing the control of law and order to the governor is belittling the state of Telangana and an insult to the people of the region,” said TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao.
