Indian Medical Association Telangana State unit Ad-hoc chairman Prof. A Gopal Kishan has stated that Second Additional Chief Judge, City Civil Court, Hyderabad granted interim injunction restraining the erstwhile IMA AP State branch from conducting elections for office-bearers of Telangana State IMA and passed a stay on the conduct of elections. IMA AP was getting ready to conduct elections to IMA Telangana unit in Vijayawada, pursuant to it’s notification dated May 30, 2014 and that forced the IMA Telangana unit to revolt asking what was the need to issue notification 2 days before Telangana State comes into existence. Telangana unit alleged that AP unit wanted to retain control over the Telangana chapter and so planned the election under it’s watch, that too in Vijayawada.
In a press note yesterday, Dr Gopal Kishan said there will be no elections by the current AP State branch in the forthcoming APICON 2014 on July 12 and 13 at Vijayawada. “We will strengthen the Ad-hoc committee to take further steps to form a new IMA Telangana State branch”, said conveners Dr Dilip Bhanushali, Dr K. Ramesh Reddy and Dr L. Surender Reddy.
