Telangana MLAs who hold a majority in BAC have met and strategized across parties to demand the Telangana bill be placed in Assembly on Monday. The CM and the speaker too were ‘briefed’ by Digvijay Singh before he left for Delhi to cooperate in this regard. While this may probably result in the placing of bill in AP Assembly, there could be strings attached with regard to how long the discussion may take place.
There is a probability that the bill is not returned, along with the views of AP Assembly, to the President before Dec 20th, when the present session of Parliament ends. In that case, UPA may have to plan a special session in January to pass the bill and gain any political mileage in Telangana. Move and counter moves on Monday with regard to placing the bill and starting debate on it in the assembly would decide how sooner or longer it may take for the creation of Telangana. As of now, Telangana MLAs are displaying a rare unity amongst themselves to take forward the AP Reorg bill that came to assembly. We have to see how long this may continue.
