Purandeswari, the Union Minister soon after jumping ship to BJP says the sops for Andhra, which she proudly publicized as results of efforts of Andhra Ministers like her till yesterday, are illegal. Stating that the special category status accorded to the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh by the Centre might not stand legal scrutiny as the ordinance on it has not been endorsed by the President, former Union minister Daggubati Purandeswari has said she does not believe that the promises made by the Centre to Seemandhra while bifurcating the state will be fulfilled.
“It has been reported in the media that the ordinance concerning special category status to Seemandhra has been sent back to the Union cabinet by the President. In such case, the sops announced by the Centre for Seemandhra will remain mere promises made for public consumption during polls”, she said.
