BJP Senior MM Joshi Slams Telangana BJP; Here Is Who Said What On The Issue

BJP floor leader K Lakshman’s comments against Sania dubbing her ‘Pakistan’s daughter-in-law’ has quickly turned into a national embarrassment for the party, with it’s own party leaders distancing themselves away from the comments.

Senior BJP leader & Parliamentarian MM Joshi today slammed the statement saying, “If someone says this then it reflects his culture”. 

Prakash Javadekar,I&B Minister said that Sania Mirza is the pride of India. He said “Sania Mirza has an international standing of her own,we have no problem, actually she is brand ambassador of India”

Congress leader Manish Tewari said ‘This is a bizarre controversy. Sania Mirza is an acclaimed player. An individual has the right to marry anyone’.

Brinda Karat said “Only a pervert & twisted mind can give such a statement,the comment must be dismissed outright”.

Sania herself said “Hurts me that so much time is being wasted on a petty issue of my being appointed as brand ambassador of Telangana” and that “I will remain an Indian till the end of my life”, ” strongly condemn any attempts by any person to brand me an outsider”.

Mediapersons shared their mind. Barkha Dutt said “Sexist Bigot. Gives away his mindset -always daughter in laws,never daughters?”.

Biju Janata Dal leader Jay Panda also spoke in favour of Sania. He said, “Wherever she may have married but she is an Indian citizen and this should be respected.”

Kiran Bedi said “Sania Mirza is a daughter of India. She has brought innumerable laurels to the country in the game of Tennis. She is a brand ambassador!” in a Twitter Message.

Mayawati said “We should welcome Telangana Govt’s decision of choosing Sania Mirza as its brand ambassador”.
