Samaikyandra agenda dropped! ఎవరి కోరికలతో వాళ్ళు జంప్!

Seemandhra Union and state ministers have started giving up their fight for keeping the state intact.

Instead, they have intensified efforts to get the the best possible deals for Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, as well as for their respective districts in order to earn brownie points from their electors.

It was evident on Wednesday when minister C Ramachandraiah announced that he does not want to live in a fool’s paradise over stalling the bifurcation, after he had strong indications from the Centre that division would be taken forward at any cost.

“It is time to protect the interests of the people of Seemandhra as bifurcation of AP is certain,” Ramachandraiah said.

Divulging that he had sent a report to the GoM seeking constitutional safeguards to protect the interests of Rayalaseema post-bifurcation, the minister said, “Rayalaseema needs Constitutional safeguards on sharing of river waters. Hence, I urged the GoM to allot 300 tmc water for the region.”

In his his 21-page memorandum, Ramachandraiah requested the GoM to recommend to the Centre to set up a steel plant in the 20,000 acres allotted to Brahmani steels after bifurcation. He also wanted an IT park to be set up in Anantapur district.

Likewise, other ministers from Seemandhra, such as Kanna Lakshminarayana, Dokka Manikya Vara Prasada Rao, K Parthasaradhi, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Kondru Murali Mohan and TG Venkatesh, have also begun focusing their attention to extracting their choice deals from the GoM/Centre. They want the capital of the residuary state to be located in their native districts.

According to sources, Kanna, Dokka and Parthasaradhi are moving heaven and earth to get the capital between Vijayawada and Guntur, whereas TG Venkatesh is concentrating on making Kurnool the capital if his efforts for Rayala Telangana fail.

Former minister JC Diwakar Reddy said after the latest U-turn done by the Union ministers from Seemandhra, it was clear that bifurcation is unstoppable. Hence, he was once again making efforts to press for Rayala Telangana as it would be beneficial to the people of Kurnool and Anantapur districts in terms of irrigation and employment.

Some of the Congress leaders under Diwakar Reddy’s leadership, have already sent a memorandum to the GoM seeking inclusion of these two districts in Telangana.
