Not possible to pass Telangana Bill in Winter session – Kamal Nath

Congress would make all attempts to introduce the Telangana bill in the winter session of Parliament itself while it has now become clear that the passage of the bill has to wait till the next session of Parliament, whenever it would be.

Parliamentary Affairs minister Kamal Nath clearly told that the Telangana bill (AP Reorganization Bill-2013) can not be passed in winter session.  After participating in the Congress core committee meeting, for which he was invited although he is not a member, to strategize for the Telangana bill in the winter session, he was asked about the passage of the bill in the winter session.  Kamalnath reportedly wondered, “How is it possible?” . The meeting had Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, P Chidambaram, Ahmed Patel and Sushil Kumar Shinde.

The core committee also reportedly studied the possibility of extending the winter session by two more days. As per the existing schedule, the winter session is to last till December 20. The final decision on extending the session by two days may be taken in the next cabinet meeting.
