IT Companies Should Revise Holiday List & Include Bathukamma & Bonalu – TITA

 The Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) welcomed the decision of Telangana Government declaring ‘Bonalu’ and ‘Bathukamma’ as the state festivals and demanded all the IT companies to revise the Holiday List of 2014 Calendar year by adding these two festivals.

“The ‘Bathukamma’ festival is one of the most auspicious and unique festivals of Telangana region, celebrated mainly by women. As a spring festival, it is the second largest festival after Dasara or Vijaya Dashami in Telangana Region. ‘Bonalu’, a vibrant and unique folk festival, is celebrated in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and other parts of the region during the month of ‘Ashada’ (July-August) on Sunday and followed by ‘Rangam’ program on Monday. TITA demands holidays to be declared on Bathukamma Festival and on Monday, the next day of Bonalu, as the people also hold ‘rangam’ or forecasting the future, organize processions and cultural events.” said TITA President Sundeep Kumar Makthala.
