Chhattisgarh Agrees To Give Telangana 1000 MW For 20 Years

ramansingh_KCR_TG_talkiesOn Thursday, Govt of Chhattisgarh wrote to Telangana Govt agreeing to the latter’s proposal to buy 100 MW for the long term of 20 years. Right from Day 1, the Telangana Government has been pursuing it’s northern neighbor Chhattisgarh for a long-term power purchasing agreement.

It is reported that 1000 MW of power will be provided by Chhattisgarh to Telangana at a very reasonable price as the PPA is for 20 years. However, it will take 2 years for the plan to materialize as new transmission lines have to laid between Wardha in Maharashtra and Dichpally in Telangana, about 270 km, to route this power from Chattisgarh. We reported that Telangana Government is mulling over this transmission corridor in our July 1st post here. Originally the plan was to lay direct transmission lines between Chhattisgarh and Telangana but logistical and environmental issues meant a longer delay. So that plan is dropped and Telangana is actively pursuing the Dichpally route and gearing up to get the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd to include the new route from Wardha to Dichpally in its grid plan. The Centre has to agree for this, failing which Telangana has to do it itself.
