After Naidu-JP deal, Loksatta refuses B-Forms to its 3 MP candidates & aborts their nominations!

Screen Shot 2014-04-12 at 1.31.23 AMAlliances and grand alliances are common in politics. But the extent to which LokSatta is going to, for achieving one this election is shocking it’s own party members. Loksatta senior leader Enugu RamaRao was supposed to contest from Chevella as per LokSatta’s 2nd list released on 7th April. He along with Loksatta boss JP and 2 others – Rohit Kumar Parasa for Secunderabad Loksabha and Ravinder Naik for Mahububabad LS were supposed to be Loksatta’s 4 candidates for Loksabha constituencies in Telangana. But that was not to be. The 3 candidates tried to get the party’s B-forms till the last moment on 9th April, which was the last day of filing nominations. The party did not disclose what was happening and JP was not in reach for the 3 candidates. At last, after constant nagging JP supposedly conveyed to the 3 that in the best interests of the party, to promote its agenda, they have to withdraw from the race! He refused to issue B-forms and none of the 3 could file their nominations. JP is supposed to have told Mr RamaRao personally that he does not want the TDP-BJP combine to lose votes! Ramarao alleges JP refused the B-forms after he got a call from Chandrababu Naidu. Coming as it from a senior like Ramarao who contested in 2009′s LB Nagar election and got around 25000 votes, the allegation is hard to dismiss.

While the party which promotes new politics for new generation itself took a degenerating approach to the very concept of election what is more shocking is the lack of honesty and transparency in their conduct of business. Aren’t those the cornerstone of Loksatta’s ‘new politics’? It is no crime to get into an alliance, why can’t they do it openly instead of cheating innocent people who trusts that this party will ‘change’ something. Is it a coincidence that Loksatta announced candidates only in Chevella, Secunderabad and Mahabubabad Loksabha constituencies where TDP is betting big? Are the 3 candidates made the sacrificial lambs for JP’s own contest in Malkajgiri? Is that why TDP nominated a complete outsider like Malla Reddy to divert the TDP-BJP combine’s vote to JP? This episode has all elements of quid pro quo.
