With 600 Cr, Telangana Readies For 1st Land Survey After 1938!

The TRS Government already asked for Rs 600 crore from the Centre for conducting a comprehensive land survey in the State, Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali has said. The existing land records in the state were prepared based on the land survey done by the Nizam government in 1938. Though the land survey was to be carried out once in 30 years, no such efforts were made by previous governments. With no proper land records, the TRS government is not in a position to reclaim valuable government and Wakf lands, especially in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, where realty prices have been sky high during the last decade.Several lands have been registered under multiple names illegally, which ended up in court cases.  Mr Ali also took up the issue of resurvey at the recent Conference of State Revenue Ministers convened by the Centre on June 27 in New Delhi. He urged Union minister, Nitin Gadkari, who chaired the conference, to allot Rs 600 crore to the state to take up resurvey of lands.

Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat here on Thursday, Mahmood Ali said he had directed the officials concerned to submit a derailed report on the assigned lands and other Government lands available in 10 Telangana districts, as per their records. A land bank with all details will help the government take up welfare schemes, he said.

He also said that the government will soon appoint 72 Surveyors and 201 deputy surveyors. The Deputy CM said they would soon remove middlemen in sub-registrar offices. All sale deeds would be loaded online, increasing transparency. The government was committed to provide transparent and graft-free governance and set up help desks in all the offices which will have their own buildings in three years. A meeting with district Collector on Ranga Reddy lands will be conducted on July 7, he added.
