TRS crucial meeting on Oct 25

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao is giving a lot of thought to the reconstruction of Telangana after the new state is formed and the TRS’ active role in it to avoid merging with the Congress, said sources.

While the Telangana agitation was on, the TRS chief had gone on record stating that he would merge the party with the Congress after the Telangana Bill was passed in Parliament.

Chandrasekhar Rao has convened a crucial meeting on October 25 at Telangana Bhavan to discuss the reconstruction of Telangana under the leadership of the TRS while indirectly rejecting any merger.

Members of the party politburo, state executive and all MLAs, MPs and district and Assembly constituency in-charges have been asked to attend important meeting without fail.

TRS party leaders are now stating that the formation of a TRS government in the new Telangana state is essential to implement the promises it had made to the people of Telangana.

Political analysts meanwhile, are of the opinion that the TRS chief has changed his mind about merging TRS with the Congress after he became sure of the fact that the Congress would create a separate T-state at any cost before the 2014 polls.

Sources said that at the meeting, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao wants to send a message to the Congress high command that TRS will not merge with it even after the Telangana Bill is passed in Parliament.

According to sources, the party think tank is busy preparing a five-year action plan for reconstruction of Telangana after the state is formed. TRS leader Lokbhuma Reddy said, “The party top leadership is not interested in a merger with the Congress. Their concern now is how TRS can play an active role in the reconstruction of Telangana in the interest of the people of the region.”

He expressed confidence that the party would form the government in the separate Telangana state and added that recent election surveys predicted good results for TRS in the 2014 elections.
