TJAC Calls For Aug 9 To Be Observed As Anti-Polavaram Day

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof. Kodandaram on Saturday called upon the people to observe August 9 as ‘anti-Polavaram Project Day’. August 9 is The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. In India, it’s referred to as Adivasi day.

Speaking to the media here today at the TNGO office where the TJAC meeting was held, Prof. Kodandaram said the meeting has unanimously decided to observe August 9 as ‘anti- Polavaram Project day’. He also slammed the State Higher Education Council saying that it crossed its limits in announcing EAMCET counseling. He charged the State Higher Education Council with creating confusion in the minds of students and people on EAMCET counseling. The JAC also welcomed State Government’s decision to celebrate Prof Jayashankar’s birth anniversary celebrations officially. The JAC called for each village to celebrate the occasion, as a tribute to the great soul.

TNGO Convenor Devi Prasad called for immediate bifurcation of RTC. JAC Co-chairman C Vital said determining nativity norms is the right of State referring to Telangana State’s move on determining nativity for certain welfare schemes. Several TJAC leaders attended the meeting and discussed major issues presently the state is confronting.
