Telangana Govt. To Set Up TASK To Make Engg. Students Readily Employable

Identifying the fact that most of the engineering graduates lack readily employable skills, the government of Telangana has decided to set up Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge (Task) to impart skills during their course period itself, with the help of IT companies.

Under TASK, the IT companies would be requested to impart employable skills by selecting some students each as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). The idea is to make the engineering graduates readily employable by the time they complete the four-year academic course.

Incubation centres

Minister for Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday stated that the consultative meeting planned by the government with 150 major IT companies operating from Hyderabad would be the first step towards making Hyderabad one of the best IT destinations not only in India, but in the world. The government was planning to set up top grade incubation centres with the help of Indian School of Business (ISB) and International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-Hyderabad). Representatives of IT firms engaged in software, hardware and animation/gaming technologies would participate in the meeting to be held at Taj Krishna at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Mr. Rama Rao said the government was seeking cooperation of the IT companies in formulating a comprehensive IT policy for attracting higher investments and achieving higher growth in the participatory method. During informal discussions the IT industry had complained of lack of conducive environment for start-ups in Hyderabad, the Minister said. He would visit the US in July first week on the invitation of American Telugu Association and invite the entrepreneurs to make investments in Hyderabad and Telangana.
