Telangana Govt. Says NITHM Ownership Is A Closed Chapter

NITHMThe National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) located in Hyderabad will be managed by Telangana Government, declared a press release on behalf of Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma.

NITHM is a registered society for Tourism and Hospitality Management, Training and Research established by State Government with the help of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

“As per the AP Reorganization Act 2014, section 75, the institute is listed at Sl.No.100 in 10th schedule. The institute is situated in Hyderabad and as per the provisions of the Act, the institute which is physically located in Telangana will be managed by Telangana state where it is located. However, Its services will also be offered to the successor state i.e. Andhra Pradesh on mutually agreed terms.” said the press release.

The press release pointed out that the Government of Telangana released a GO No.3  on 6th Aug. 2014 appointing the Prl. Secy. to government, Tourism and Culture of Telangana as Chairman of the institute and in his capacity, the Prl. Secy., has also conducted a Governing Council meeting on 6th Aug.2014.

Against this backdrop the erstwhile officer namely the Spl.Chief Secretary to AP Govt. cannot continue to be the head of this institute, said the Chief Secretary’s press note.

The press note was released after AP special chief secretary Chandana Khan, went to the institute for a meeting, claiming she is still the Chairman. She was turned away by cops apprehending trouble from Telangana employees. The employees gathered in front of the institution to protest Chandana Khan’s entry.
