Media in Delhi is reporting GoM has recommended an increase in Telangana Assembly seats by 34 from 119 to 153. Each of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana will now have 9 Assembly constituencies instead of the 7 constituencies. This has been done to address political instability issues. The GoM is reported to have done this taking in view the experiences of States like Chattisgarh and Jharkhand with political instability and rise of fringe parties. The move would also likely benefit Congress which has a strong cadre all across Telangana.
