“I would be the first to argue that such a far reaching bill should be discussed in Parliament, should be debated and should not be pushed through in a cacophony when protests of a violent nature are taking place.” Union Minister and Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh Jairam Ramesh said. While the media went about misquoting and misinterpreting the statement to imply Congress will now backdown from the bill, all Mr Ramesh meant was simple. The bill should be deliberated and discussed in Parliament instead of just getting pushed with numbers from ruling UPA. That is what is more or less expected.
