Sircilla & Warangal To Get Textile Parks; Azam Jahi Mills Land To Be Utilized Again

Telangana government is planning to set up textile parks in Warangal district and Sircilla in Karimnagar district. These would be modelled on the textile park in Tirupur in Tamil Nadu.

For the Warangal textile park, the land belonging to the defunct Azam Jahi Mills will be utilized, and if necessary more land may be acquired, the Telangana CM seem to have suggested. As per news emanating from Govt. sources, Spl. chief secretary Pradeep Chandra along with other officials is asked to come up with comprehensive plans.

The Chief Minister opined Warangal had all the facilities need for setting up a textile park, and the railway junction at Kazipet, which is at a distance of about 10 km from the Azam Jahi Mill area, would be an additional advantage.

The Govt. would also bring out a new industrial policy as part of its efforts to attract investments from domestic as well as international players. Also, the government is planning to reclaim land from the companies that have taken land from the government but have not provided employment on agreed terms or have fallen short of the targets.

A special cell will also be set to follow up with the companies. It would bring in the single window mechanism to speed up the decision making process.

At a recent review meeting chief minister KCR asked officials to evolve a system to give approvals in about 20 days. Also, focus should be on ensuring the required power to the industries for which the officials should start planning early.

The focus would be on strengthening the infrastructure. The industrial policy would aim at increasing the employment opportunities in the state. The officials are also directed to identify non-cultivable lands to set up industries there.

Accordingly, The new policy would be finalized after taking feedback from industry bodies like the Confederation of Indian Industry, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and others.
