Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao unveiled the new logo of Telangana state police at the Secretariat on Tuesday. He also put on the newly designed badges onto the top officer’s uniforms on the occasion.  According to an official release, the logo was finalised after two rounds of scrutiny by senior police officials and a team of Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) from hundreds of designs. Telangana Government has issued GO 18 notifying the above new logo and badges for the police force in the new, India’s 29th, state. The logo noticeably has Hindi and English but no Telugu in it. It remained unchanged from what was reported 20 days ago. As an exercise of image management of the police force and to communicate the changes in the new state, the new logo and badge has been decided over last 2 months even as the police force is being modernised with new policing methods and new machinery. Telangana State Director General of Police Anurag Sharma has said that the design of the police uniform would be finalized by August 15. The uniform would incorporate new logo and badge designed and finalized last week. The DGP also said that new vehicles would be inducted into force this month and that the Chief Minister KCR would hand over two-wheelers and Innovas in an official program. Wherever the Innovas cannot ply, the two-wheelers would be used, the DGP added. 2 Innova vehicles would be allocated to each police station in the State, eventually, starting with Hyderabad. The DGP added that the newly acquired vehicles would be linked to a Central Control Room.

The logo & badge designed by Laxman Aley for Telangana police was officially approved by the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and DGP Anurag Sharma. After 2 months of due process resulting in design of 3 different logos, the logo for Telangana police department has been finalized. A badge too is designed for police uniforms. CM KCR chose one among the 3, which is designed by noted artist Aley Lakshman. As widely known, Mr Lakshman designed the Telangana state government’s logo too. The logo has the 3 words duty, honour and compassion as motto. A team led by DGP Anurag Sharma was overseeing the logo preparation for 2 months and this logo could be notified officially in few days after which it would be adapted by the police department in their offices, vehicles, stationery and importantly, their uniforms.
