CM KCR Declares 7 Khammam Mandals Now Part Of AP

KCR-speech

What TelanganaTalkies reported a month before is official now. The TRS Government led by KCR has conceded the seven mandals of Khammam district to AP. The mandals which were transferred to Andhra Pradesh by the Centre through the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (amendment) Bill, 2014, in July are now, without any controversy, part of AP. While speaking in a press conference on Tuesday, CM KCR was asked on why the survey exercise is not being carried out in the 7 mandals of AP. TS Government has earlier objected to the amendment and the procedural issues in passing the amendment. Modi Sarkar Backtracks On Polavaram Ordinance; Turns To Prez For A Face-Saver

Modi Pranab Venkaiah

Modi Sarkar on Monday deferred the introduction of the Bill to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 in Lok Sabha realizing the pitfalls of going any further with the Bill, in view of at least 2 constitutional challenges the TRS and BJD threw at it. What makes the backtracks complete is that it even deferred placing before the house the explanatory statement for taking the Ordinance route. In case of Ordinances, this is mandatory to show reasons for immediate legislation through an ordinance (instead of going through of the house). When the scheduled business of Polavaram came up, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh stood up and informed the house that his Government is in the process of obtaining the recommendation of the President in ...

The first bill that the Modi government has lined up in Lok Sabha is the Andhra Pradesh reorganization ordinance that it expects will be passed despite the opposition of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and BJD.The government is counting on the support of Congress, TDP and YSR Congress that it feels will be handy in ensuring that the bill — with its component on the Polavaram project — passes through Parliament.TRS has opposed the ordinance’s clauses that set out transfer of some villages in the Bhadrachalam areas to Andhra Pradesh. The displacement due to the project is a concern to the BJD as well. However, the government seems confident that the ordinance will be converted into an act, as it is confident ...

Why The Ordinance On Polavaram Is Unconstitutional

Polavaram Ordinance

The Government of India under the pretext of constructing Polavaram Dam, in the process of paying compensation to the tribals whose lands are under threat of being submerged has gone to the extent of issuing an ordinance transferring seven Mandals in the tribal district of Khammam from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh. This is unconstitutional, undemocratic, anti-tribal and against the spirit of federalism. At a time when Parliament is about to meet in a week’s time resorting to bring an ordinance in such an hurried manner as if there are no important matters of public interest in front of Modi Government is ridiculous. Transferring of a tribal Village or a Mandal that has predominantly tribal land, from one authority to a ...
