Supreme Court refuses to stay AP bifurcation; warns Undavalli that SC is not fish market!

Supreme Court poured cold water on the efforts of Anti-Telangana activists trying to use legalities to thwart the bifurcation process. While the SC took up the petition to hear their plea, it refused to grant interim relief. Justice Dattu declined to grant interim relief despite a plea by Rajeev Dhavan arguing on behalf of United AP protagonists.

Congress MP Arun Kumar also made a vehement plea to get the matter listed before June 2 as on that day Telangana State comes into being as India’s 29th State. However, the court refused and listed the matter for August 20. Posting the matter till after June 2 is like a postmortem said MP Arun Kumar, who was keen to see the court stop the formation of Telangana State. However, Justice Dattu expressed displeasure over the vehement arguments over this and said the esteemed court can’t be made a fish market.
