KCR Asks Officials To Prepare Master Plan For IT sector

KCR_EPSChief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has directed the officials of Information Technology (IT) Department to draft a master plan by engaging consultants of international standard for expansion of IT hubs at Gachibowli, Maheshwaram and Pocharam and development of infrastructure for the proposed Information Technology & Investment Region (ITIR).

At a review meeting held with the officials here on Tuesday, he instructed them to involve GHMC, HMDA, HMWSS&B, APIIC, Revenue, Electricity, HMR and Sports Departments for providing roads, electricity, underground drainage, transport, health city, education and other basic amenities. He also suggested connecting the ITIR with ORR and radial ring road as the ITIR corridor was expected to become the economic backbone of Telangana.

Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K.T. Rama Rao suggested setting up of a separate agency for ITIR project and development of electronic hardware and manufacturing units cluster.

He stressed the need for establishment of Institute of Innovation for training the engineering students to compete with global standards. He stated that several IT firms were coming forward to provide 4G technology for making Hyderabad WiFi-enabled city.

Informing the Chief Minister that 90 per cent of the IT sector turnover was coming from Hyderabad out of a total of Rs. 62,293 crore, IT & Communications Department Secretary Harpreet Singh said Hyderabad was the second largest IT exporting city in the country.

He further stated that there was a lot of scope for further development of software and hardware sectors in Hyderabad.
