JP loses deposit in Malkajgiri LS contest & LSP loses deposits everywhere, including Kukatpally!

Intellectual Jayaprakash Narayan fell short of 1,10,000 votes to secure his deposit and lost it. Far from being the front runner, JP just managed to beat YSRCP’s Dinesh Reddy and end up in 4th position in Malkajgiri Lok Sabha with 1,58,000 votes. 2,70,000 votes, which is 1/6 of total votes polled, are required to secure deposit in Malkajgiri. TDP’s Malla Reddy got 5,23,336 votes compared to TRS candidate’s 4,94,965 and won in a close contest by over 28,000 votes. JP was nowhere near the top candidates in any of the 7 assembly segments.

JP’s unethical strategy to attract BJP votes for his own victory at the cost of LSP’s assembly contestants in 7 assembly segments of Malkajgiri Lok Sabha worked worked partially but didn’t save him from losing his deposit.
Earlier, he openly supported BJP and withdrew his own MP contestants from Chevella, Mahabubabad and Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituencies in favor of TDP, making his own party irrelevant and his party candidates contest meaningless. In places like LB Nagar, while LSP got over 21000 votes in 2009, now it got just 8888 votes. In Malkajgiri Assembly segment, In 2009, LSP scored over 20,000 votes while now it managed just above 12000 votes despite the fact that it is the central segment to JP’s own LS bid. It is clear LSP’s voters voted for TDP-BJP alliance for assembly because of his support to that combine and thereby making LSP assembly candidates sacrificial lambs. In exchange, JP got an additional 100,000 votes from TDP-BJP votebank through cross-voting.

While his MLA candidates in all 7 assembly segments of Malkajgiri Lok Sabha got just 55,587 votes, he got an additional 100,000 votes. However, that didn’t stop him from losing his deposit. Even in Kukatpally, Lok Satta Telangana unit President Katari Srinivas Rao scored just 13,000 votes, 1/3 of votes required to secure deposit and faced the most humiliating defeat from a seat LSP had and showcased as ‘model constituency’ of LSP. In many constituencies in Hyderabad and Rangareddy, MIM and Independents scored more votes than LSP candidates.
