Are RSS and BJP on the same page regarding Telangana?

RSS view on Telangana’s statehood has again become subject of discussion after Seshadri Chari, former editor of Organizer, the RSS mouthpiece appeared on a national media channel and sounded unenthusiastic about unconditional support to Telangana Bill in Parliament. He said the bill may not be in ‘proper shape’ without considering the 9000 ‘amendments’ advanced by AP legislators. He even went to the extent of praising ‘AP’s long history since Potti Sriramulu’!

While top national leadership of BJP continue to say there is no change in stance over supporting Telangana Bill, Off late, second wrung leadership and media sources repeatedly talk about the if’s and but’s. Not too long ago, RSS itself didn’t quite favor statehood for Telangana and few months ago, it held meetings with BJP leadership in both regions of AP to arrive at an amicable common viewpoint, which it subsequently seem to have abandoned. Now that the T bill is headed to Parliament, lots of attention is focused on BJP and its allies. While a deviation from its stated position is untenable for BJP at this point, they may push hard for some amendments in the bill to show their Seemandhra cadre that they, unlike Congress, have Seemandhra interests at heart. But RSS and the Sangh may be roped in to weigh in, by leaders like Venkaiah Naidu to drive a hard bargain for Andhra.
