Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu has said the centre can not intervene in the fee reimbursement issues of Telangana and asked AP Govt. to sit with Telangana Govt. and resolve the issue. “That’s the way the governments function in a democracy,” the Union Minister said addressing a press conference in Hyderabad. Incidentally, the union minister was under fire for his unilateral actions regarding Polavaram ordinance and amendment to the AP Reorganisation Act and was accused of bulldozing concerns of TS government over the transfer of 7 mandals of Khammam.
The minister now feels that the Telangana government should not make any students suffer and there should not be any discrimination on its treatment between students who opt to study in Telangana, even if they belonged to other parts of the combined Andhra Pradesh State. “In my view, that is the constitutional spirit”, he said. So Venkaiah Naidu’s logic is that Telangana government should extend all welfare schemes to natives of other states too, in the spirit of constitution. This is even while he transferred Telangana territory in Khammam to his own state AP, without any constitutional spirit!
