SC Directs EAMCET Counseling To Be Completed By End Of Aug

The Supreme Court today directed both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to complete the admission process for EAMCET by the end of August and begin classes for the current academic session from September first week. The SC referred the matter for next hearing on August 11, when it is expected to give the full judgement, on fee reimbursement and nativity norms.The court asked AP & TS to insulate students’ education from the impact of bifurcation and refrain from politicising the matter. The court observed that the recent EAMCET notification be dealt in a special manner, as it came during bifuraction. Centre’s Panel Meets Today As AP Rejects It’s Recommendations On Power PPAs

The High-Power Committee headed by CEA Chairman Neerja Mathur is meeting today in Delhi. This is the committee’s second meeting, which was supposed to be held On July 30. The meeting was post-posted as Telangana officials were unavailable that day, due to their trip to Chhattisgarh to finalize the power purchase between TS and Chhattisgarh. The Committee has meanwhile sent to both states draft of it’s recommendations based on the arguments presented in the first meeting on July 14. It reportedly rejected the cancellation move of AP Government with regard to the PPAs and upheld TS share in power generated in AP too, as per the norms set by AP Reorganisation Act. Telangana Employee Unions and JACs are meeting today to discuss and finalize their concerns over the guidelines issued by Kamalanathan Committee. They will submitting their list of concerns and objections today evening to the committee.The deadline for any feedback and objections for the guidelines is tomorrow evening. The report is going to stress amending section 18(f) of the guidelines, which stipulates that wherever the number of Telangana employees is less than the number of allocated posts, such vacancies may be filled by Seemandhra employees. As of now, a majority of higher-level posts are filled with employees hailing from Andhra Pradesh, which means Telangana is obviously in minority, much below it’s fair share. 18(f) instead of rectifying the discrimination against Telangana, consolidates it. Venkaiah Naidu Meets KCR; Says Centre Won’t Interfere In Inter-States’ Affairs

Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu met with chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in two different meetings yesterday. He met the Telangana CM at the CM’s camp office at Begumpet. Earlier, he met AP CM at Lake View Guest House. Speculation is rife that the minister has met both the CMs with an agenda to bring some common ground between the CMs, who are divided on almost all counts. The union minister asked the CMs to prepare detailed reports on projects that require Central assistance. The Union minister handed over notes on the Central schemes being implemented in the two States and their current status, officials said. TS Issues Notification For Higher Education Council, To Conduct It’s Own Counseling

The state government on Saturday constituted a separate Telangana State Council of Higher Education. A GO was issued by the education department stating that as per the AP State Council of Higher Education Act (TelanganaAdaptation) order, 2014, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education is deemed to have come into force with effect from June 2, 2014. So Telangana, in effect, is kicking out APSCHE for it’s scheme of things. The development comes a day after the AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) filed an implead petition in the Supreme Court on plea filed by the Telangana government seeking extension for completing the admissions to professional courses and Eamcet counselling till October 31.
