THE HINDU getting desperate for Samaikyandra?

After THE HINDU boss N Ram declared on Twitter he will always stand by Visalandhra, the brainchild of his Communist friends, it looks like THE HINDU’s journalists got the much needed morale booster to go over top as Samaikyandhra proponents. Couple of days ago, THE HINDU’s resident editor in Hyderabad Susarla Nagesh Kumar wrote an OP-ED in which he said “The essence of Article 3 of the Constitution dealing with the re-organisation of States is federalism. The Centre has given short shrift to this concept by brushing aside the reservations of the Chief Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president. Moreover, barring two, all members of the Group of Ministers (GoM) constituted to take forward the process of bifurcation, hail from States which have water or boundary disputes with Andhra Pradesh. They are unlikely to understand the sensitivities involved in the division of India’s first linguistic State.” As a resident editor, Mr Kumar should have risen over his regional affiliations instead of showing such a bias. He conveniently says opinion of the 3 leaders from AP should have been considered despite the fact that all 3 are from Seemandhra. But again he says GoM should not have ministers from neighboring States of AP which have disputes should not be in GoM because ‘they are unlikely to understand sensitivities’!

After that article came 2 more today which speculates about Antony committee’s 4 page report. Mr Antony only yesterday said he didn’t give any report. He seems to have conveyed feelings of Seemandhra leaders to Sonia Gandhi and not to GoM. If there is an informal report, it is good THE HINDU got hold of it. But the question is why THE HINDU wont show the same diligence in reports and commissions that were sympathetic with Telangana. Why did they not show the same ‘investigative’ spirit with Sri Krishna Committee’s secret Chapter 8? It looks like THE HINDU’s and Nagesh Kumar’s only agenda is to serve the Samaikyandra cause.
