Hyderabad High Court on Monday refused to issue a stay on the Intensive Household Survey being conducted by Telangana Government across 10 districts, including Hyderabad. This is the 2nd time the court refused to give any stay or interim orders against the survey, in last 4 days. While referring to a petition filed by Supreme Court Advocate P V Krishnaiah seeking to quash the survey order as the government failed to follow Constitutional norms and procedures, the court made it clear that they cannot direct the government to stall it’s procedure. CM CKR has once again made it clear that the proposed ‘comprehensive household survey’ is intended to eliminate the bogus beneficiaries of government schemes and not trace anyone’s nativity.  “The government wants to gather some facts about every household in the state so as to implement target-oriented welfare schemes for various sections of people. But, it is not mandatory for citizens to disclose all their details such as bank account number during the survey,” the CM said. CM KCR once again defended his government’s decision to hold a day-long Intensive Household Survey, the Samagra Kutumba Survey, of Telangana residents that is costing the new state Rs. 20 crore, When asked about he being compared to Hitler by some people for his forceful decisions, the CM admitted that he had been called Hitler and he was not ashamed of it. Without mincing words, KCR said “I am a Hitler and I will be worse than Hitler if need be, to stop illegalities,”. The Telangana Government is planning to use the day long survey to plug irregularities in PDS, Pensions and other welfare schemes. The decades long irregularities will cost the newborn State Rs 10,000 Cr an year.
