AP Govt’s Continuous Defiance Of AP Re-organization Act Over Power Sharing

- Venkat Gandhi Poddutoori I feel sad that the state of AP that we belonged to for 58 Years choose to Breach the Law and deny the fair Share of Power promised in the Andhra Pradesh Re-organization Act 2014 that the people of Telangana needed most in the peak Summer . APERC has summarized as below in its Order on 11th Aug 2014 “ Chapter V- Summary of Findings 97. The PPAs submitted by APCC/APDISCOMS are not void for want of express consent of the Commission. Refer Paras 53 to 77 above. 98. The attempted withdrawal of select PPAs by APGENCO is not valid and such PPAs cannot be unilaterally rescinded by APGENCO. Yet Again, AP Rejects Advice To Correct It’s PPA Stand

Andhra-Pradesh

While AP CM Chandrababu Naidu makes all positive noises about solving issues through dialogue with his TS counterpart, he continues to play the negative role in adhering to the AP Reorganisation Act or to the advice of Central Government bodies. Only yesterday the ERC rejected AP’s ‘PPA Cancellation’ exercise in a detailed report. Today, AP rejected those findings and continued to insist the PPAs are cancelled and so it can’t share power with Telangana. The Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) on Monday night issued orders rejecting APGENCO’s unilateral ‘cancellation’ of the power purchase agreements (PPAs) that are with the commission. Chandrababu Naiud’s administration played havoc with newborn State Telangana with the cancellation drama and made Telangana lose close to 1350 MW of power. ERC’s orders comes as a relief for Telangana but it is yet to be seen if CM Naidu honors the decision. The CM earlier dismissed even the CEA’s authority to resolve the PPA issues. In a very detailed 34-page order on the PPA cancellation dispute between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, issued by Dr. V.Bhaskar, Chairman ...

AP Bullies CEA To Withdraw It’s Recommendations On PPAs

CEA2

AP Government blocked a bid by the Neeraja Mathur Committee to give Telangana it’s due share in power, as per the AP Reorganisation Act. In the 2nd meeting held in Delhi yesterday, AP questioned the locus standi of the Committee to oversee the PPA dispute between both the states. This brings the issue back to square one. AP’s stance was always questionable as AP CM Chandrababu Naidu declared even earlier that the Committee is just an advisory body. The Committee held it’s 1st meeting on July 14th and both states presented their arguments. Based on the arguments, the Committee sent a draft of its recommendations last week to both the state governments. AP which didn’t question the authority of the ...
