Pro-TDP media spreads rumors of TDP-BJP break-up to exert pressure on BJP

TDP seems to be trying hard to exert pressure on BJP on the candidates it chooses for it’s quota of LS and Assembly seats in Seemandhra. After BJP brushed aside Raghurama Krishnam Raju’s candidature for LS and nominated D. Purandeshwari from Rajampet despite Naidu’s repeated attempts to the contrary, Naidu’s coterie seemed to have decides they would play some mind game with BJP and started leaking rumors from a Pro-TDP news channel that the alliance is being called off due to ‘RSS interference’ in selecting BJP’s candidates.

BJP did concede ground to TDP earlier when Naidu demanded Purandeshwari be not put up for LS or Assembly election. Succumbing to pressure, BJP dropped her name for Vizag and Vijayawada where she was in reckoning. Instead she was accommodated from Rajampet in Kadapa, away from TDP’s main pockets in Andhra. But Naidu seemed to be hell bent to abort Purandeshwari’s career in electoral politics fearing that may hijack the ‘NTR legacy’. In addition to that Naidu’s close friend Krishnam Raju who joined BJP only 2 months ago, didn’t get the LS ticket and he seemed to met Naidu and complained! How Naidu would expect to control BJP’s tickets is amusing. Also, Naidu’s wish to share stage with Modi in Telangana and Andhra and project himself as towering leader, like Modi, failed big time when even after repeated proposals from TDP for such meetings, Modi’s camp refused to budge and made it clear Naidu would campaign the same way in the 2 regions just like the way he does elsewhere in the country – Solo. Naidu’s craze for media and image management is well-known and Modi’s refusal didn’t do down well with him. Some in Naidu’s camp see this as an insult. Naidu seemed to have remarked to his aides, as per media reports, that, he became CM much earlier than Modi, 20 years ago and is ‘senior’ in that sense! His frustration can be sensed.

That is what Naidu is unhappy about and circulating rumors in media so that BJP ‘high-command’ steps in and once again accepts all of TDP’s demands! We have to wait and see if this bargaining tactic works.
