‘Happening Hyderabad’ Campaign Launched: 52 Events In 52 Weeks!!

Telangana tourism department, in association with the departments of IT, ITES and industries, launched ‘Happening Hyderabad’ campaign with an aim to promote Hyderabad as a truly global and cosmopolitan city.  Telangana government today launched the annual campaign that will focus on year-round events in the city. The campaign kickstarts State Govt’s calendar of yearly events and Hyderabad henceforth will host 52 events in 52 weeks all round the year.

“For a city to thrive, it just cannot flourish on industry and IT or any specific industry as that matter.. we need a city that is vibrant and have something to offer (events) every week.” said IT Minister KTR. “For a city like Hyderabad to emerge and to actually become a truly international city, we need more leisure and lifestyle events happening in Hyderabad,” he added.

Planning and tourism principal secretary, B P Acharya, said this was an initiative to showcase Hyderabad as a global city and provide a platform for quality entertainment to the residents and visitors. “Through this initiative, we will create maximum visibility and outreach for the events and support the event industry of Hyderabad,” he added.

The launch was followed by the unveiling of ‘Happening Hyderabad’ logo, launch of its web portal with annual events calendar and mobile application. City’s eminent personalities from the field of sports, arts and culture and theatre were present on the occasion. The campaign will kick start through a cycling event ‘Freedom Ride’ tomorrow.

The minister announced that the government will present cash rewards for those coming up with a better logo and tagline for the campaign.
