GoM says ‘No’ to UT! Telangana Bill likely before Cabinet tomorrow!!

GoM has finalized its recommendations and is working on the format of the draft so that it can be placed before Cabinet meet on Thursday at 5 PM. While the exact details of the recommendations are closely guarded secrets, at least till they are placed before cabinet tomorrow, some details have emerged in Delhi media.

1. Hyderabad won’t be a UT. It would be a 10 year ‘joint-capital’ in line with CWC resolution. Details of the area considered for ‘joint-capital’ and the means to get that status are now awaited.
2. Seemandhra won’t get a high court now, but will get a bench of existing AP High Court.
3. A river management authority would be set up with CMs from both Telangana and Andhra to discuss all disputes.
4. Centre would not get into any disputed matters. It will leave them to the CMs of both States and central tribunals to sort them out.
5. Process of division of IAS & IPS cadres of the State mentioned in the draft bill.
