After BJP’s Polavaram Attack, Modi Gets No Invitation From KCR?

The surprising Polavaram Ordinance from centre has poisoned the waters between BJP and TRS. Just when it was felt KCR was getting ready to get into a working relation with centre by accepting Modi’s invite and personally attending his swearing-in, BJP’s Central Govt, comprising Venkaiah Naidu & TDP didn’t think twice in promulgating the Polavaram Ordinance and bought in an unbridgeable gap, in this short time before KCR’s swearing-in. While non-NDA leaders like Jayalalitha, Naveen Patnaik and Mamata Banerjee skipped Modi’s swearing-in, KCR chose to attend and extend his hand to Modi. Now, union cabinet Minister Venkayya Naidu in Delhi said they have no invite from KCR so far for his swearing-in. And it is unlikely they will get any. Telangana is breathing fire on BJP’s secret operation of Polavaram Ordinance. KCR can’t ignore that and send a warm invite to Modi after he just cut Telangana State like a piece of cake and merged those 7 mandals in Andhra.

Especially the secrecy and lies with which BJP carried the ordinance business has shocked many in Telangana, including the TRS leadership. While it was KCR himself who sounded the warning bells of a possible Ordinance in works, the cabinet denied it publicly and promulgating the ordinance the very next day. They did it even while the whole of Telangana shut down completely and TRS leaders were on their way to the union home ministry to give a representation. Immediately after the ordinance is made public, the union home ministry published a gazette announcing transfer of the territory of 7 mandals to Andhra with immediate effect. It was all done on a war-footing. The ordinance took the joy away from the celebrations that are to mark the inauguration of the Telangana State, after a 60 year old struggle. It also means, on the momentous occasion of inaugurating India’s 29th State after such a historic struggle, BJP won’t be around out of shame on it’s treacherous role in dividing the Telangana people even before the State is formed. On the other hand, they are likely to enjoy and party at Chandrababu Naidu’s swearing-in on the 8th of June in Guntur.

An occasion on which the TRS leaders would have otherwise rejoiced and shared with other leaders in State and National level, has now turned war-like and tense with the TRS leaders immersed in anticipating what could come next from Modi & Co. TRS MP Vinod Kumar, who is KCR’s key man in Delhi, should have been busy inviting national leaders, including those in BJP. Instead he was closeted with senior lawyers in constitutional law on how to challenge the Polavaram Ordinance in Supreme Court. It is but natural TRS sent no invite to Modi or his ministers who have been so insensitive right on day 1. The result is that KCR and Modi wont meet at the former’s swearing-in, but in Supreme Court over Polavaram. The Modi Govt. has to take quite a few pains to explain their unconstitutional actions and the ordinance, which stands on shaky grounds.
