A Guide to the survey on the 19th

Rakesh Reddy Dubbudu

There are many rumours, half truths, fears about the proposed Integrated House hold survey by the government of Telangana on the 19th of August. This is a short guide to the survey based on the finalised survey form available here (http://www.telanganatalkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/IHHS-GHMC-SURVEYFORM_Eng.pdf)

Part A: Identification Particulars

There is nothing much to worry about in this section. This is to help the government understand how many homes have water connections and if households have paid their property tax.

Part B: Family Particulars

In this section, things like mobile number, consumer number of gas are optional and you need not give them if you do not wish to avail any benefit from the government in this regard.

Part C: Housing details

In this section, may are generic Yes/No questions. Specific questions like meter no etc are again optional. This part will help the government understand how many households are electrified, how many have access to drinking water etc. It will also give them data geographically (state, district, mandal, village etc) so that interventions can be accordingly planned.

Part D: Family Member Details

Many citizens have genuine fears about this part like Bank account no and other such specific data. These are all optional (all those columns asking for numbers like bank account, aadhaar etc). The generic questions like whether you have a bank account, educational qualifications etc will again help the govt understand the extent of financial inclusion. Infact, this will go well with the PM Modi’s  “PM Jan Dhan Yojana- to integrate the poorest of the poor with bank accounts”. It will complement the central scheme.

Part E: Persons with Disability details

Any specific number in this section is also optional. It is mandatory only if you wish to avail some welfare benefit from the government. This data will give the government an idea of what kind of disabilities exist in the state again by geography to help plan relevant interventions.

Part F: Chronic diseases

Name of the person is optional. The type of chronic disease will help the government gather data on extent and prevalance of certain kind of diseases to plan interventions accordingly.

Part G: Movable Assets of the Household

Specific details like registration number are all optional. This data will help the government understand the kind of movable assets people have without any specific details.

Part-H: Household land details (including of all lands in all places)

All specific details are again optional. The other general data will help the government understand the land owership pattern in the state and it will help them in the implementation of ‘Assigning of 3.00 Acres of agricultural lands to the Women of Bhoomileni Nirupeda Dalita Vyavasaya Aadharitha Kutumbalu’. Unlike rumours, this part has nothing to do with taking away your property etc. It only asks of general details.

Part I: Livestock and Pets details

This again is to understand the livestock. Nothing to worry about in this section.

Bottom Line: Those who wish to avail any of the government welfare measures need to provide certain specific details. But otherwise, citizens need not provide any specific details that infringe on your privacy.
